This portion of the North Country National Scenic Trail crosses through Cook Forest State Park. The trail is great for cross-country skiing and is a gradual incline on the route out and thus a descent on the return. The trail goes through the old growth of the Forest Cathedral, near Seneca Point, the Fire Tower, the Clarion River, and crosses Toms Run.

The route starts at the gate in the road during the winter and makes a loop along Beaver Dam Trail through thick forests to the edge of Parker Lake and then along Skunk Trail for the return. There are some climbs along the this route that provide beautiful views of the state park.

Located in Chapman State Park, Lowlands Trail is a short excursion that is groomed for cross-country skiing and can be connected to other trails in the park. The Lowlands Trail runs between the State Game Lands service road and the railroad grade running from the campground. The trail crosses over the West Branch of Tionesta Creek on a foot bridge. The trail is mostly used to get from one side of the lake to the other.
