Pole Steeple is nestled in a thick grove of trees above Laurel Lake in Pine Grove Furnace State Park. The approach is a popular hiking trail and offers a pleasant atmosphere out in nature. The climbing cliff is composed of unique quartzite formations. Most of the routes are easy to moderate on less than vertical rock. This area has some of the oldest history of climbing in Pennsylvania dating back to the 1950s. The rock is Weverton Quarzite and dries quickly after rain. Most routes are top rope only with a few good trad leads. The approach is under 5 minutes and the wall is nestled in a thick forest that gives the crag a beautiful setting. Anchors are easily accessible up top. Make sure you take the easy descent trail down.
