Following the Atlantic and Yadkin Greenway, this is a loop trail around Greensboro Country Park. The loop is entirely on a paved path that is also used for walking, biking and strollers. The terrain is paved and is along gently rolling hills.

This run is an out and back along Morgan Creek Trail to Merritt Pasture. The trail is paved until it reaches the pasture and then there is a dirt trail surrounded the pasture. The run is mostly flat, except for a moderate climb up the pasture. Multiple loops around the pasture can be done to add distance.

Following DuPont State Forest 25K run coarse, this run is on varying forest terrain with challenging single track, double, and fire roads. The race is actually a 50K and thus this loop is completed twice. DuPont State Recreational Forest contains 10,400 acres in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Western North Carolina. Little River runs through the forest and this route crosses it or views it numerous times.

The greenway follows alongside Yates Store Road for the first section and then along a couple subdivisions until reaching Amberly Lake. The route then follows along the northern shore of the lake, until reaching the pedestrian underpass at Green Level Church Road.

McAlpine Creek Greenway, built in 1978, was the first public greenway trail ever acquired and built in the western piedmont of North Carolina. Located in Charlotte, this trail is almost exactly one mile out and follows the same route on the return. It is through thick trees next to businesses and neighborhoods, but the trees line nearly the whole trail for an excellent feel.

The most popular trail in Umstead State Park, Company Mill Trail leads to Crabtree Creek and through a mixed hardwood forest. Along Crabtree Creek are the remains of the old Company Mill and a great resting or picnic spot. The trail then climbs to Sycamore Creek and then after a gradual descent and a nice meadow, Reedy Creek. This is a beautiful park near that is a refuge from the nearby large cities. Mountain bikes are prohibited on hiking trails.
