Great mountain biking trails, this route is located on the northern banks of Lake Crabtree. The ride is along rolling hills that feel a bit like a roller coaster, constantly going up and down. Lake Crabtree County Park singletrack is by far the most popular place for beginner riders in the Triangle. The wooded trails connect to Umstead State Park and Cary's Black Creek Greenway. Please note that Crabtree trails are closed when they are muddy. You could call ahead to see verify if they are open.

Created by a local shop, the Bicycle Post, this route is a part of nine miles of trails. The trails include a mud pit, a large bowl, exciting downhills, streams, sandy sections and roots sections, and an overall fun ride. There are just enough obstacles and also places to cruise for this ride to be the perfect mix. The trails are on private land and thus a fee and a signed waiver are required to ride.

Located on the south side of West Kerr Scott Reservoir in western North Carolina, this route follows the Warriors Creek trail system as it encircles the campground along the fold of the surrounding landscape. This track is recognized by the International Mountain Biking Association as one of the top bike trails in the world. Along the ride, there are rock gardens, bridges, tons of in-sloped turns, and great lake views. The trails are also used extensively by hikers and trail runners. You can use Hwy 268 to connect back to the beginning if desired.

This is a gorgeous ride in the Uwharrie National Forest on dedicated mountain biking trails. This route follows the two loops, Keyauwee and Supertree. Keyauwee offers everything for riders - fast and windy singletrack, with enjoyable rocks and roots. The views from this loop are amazing as well. Supertree is great for fast descents with over a dozen water bars that provide great air. To just enjoy the downhill over and over, loop around Supertree, the eastern loop.

This is the only singletrack in Wake County and can be very busy on weekends. The ride is great for beginners so be patient while learning and with learners on this trail.

Bays Mountain Park is the largest city owned park in Tennessee. It offers shady forests, ponds, streams and a variety of plants and animals to see. This is a nature preserve so following rules and regulations is a must. The Chiquipin Trail offers super fun smooth singletrack riding on a relatively flat surface. You will wind through a thick forest with excellent scenery surrounding you. The park is closed after 8pm during the summer and has different designated hours during the spring and winter.

This mountain biking adventure near Issaqueena Lake offers a beautiful trail that can be ridden in either direction. Issaqueena Lake sits near the convergence of Little River and Keowee Lake. There are lots of technical sections with roots and at least one 2' step-up and a rock drop. Flora that you will see on this adventure include cypress, a variety of oak and birch. Wildlife that you may see include Bald Eagles, frogs, alligators, Broad Winged Hawks and falcons.

Located near Fontana Lake, Tsali Recreation Area is nationally known for its 42-mile trail system. The trail network is open to hikers and horses, but the system is best known as a challenging mountain bike course. This route follows the Right Loop, an easier ride at Tsali, along single track trails, over creeks, and great views of the lake. This is a gorgeous and steep, winding, twisting downhill along Bunches Creek in the Smoky Mountains. This is an exciting one-way ride down that can be popular depending on the time of year. Beginning at Big Witch Gap, the ride drops down into a scenic valley and follows the creek until it reaches Indian Creek Campground.
