Located in the heart of the coal-mining in Belmont County’s rugged hills, Barkcamp State Park Campground sits in mature woodlands with open meadows next to Belmont Lake. There is a variety of recreation and campers enjoy swimming, fishing, hunting, and hiking. The campground offers volleyball courts, basketball courts, horseshoes and a miniature golf course. Over 150 sites are available for tent or trailer camping. They also have group camps, cabins and a day-use picnic area. Electric hookups, showers and a dump station are provided. Rates range from $22-45.

Beaver Creek Campground sits next to Beaver Creek, which is known as a state and national wild and scenic river. This area is rich in history with the nearby Gaston’s Mill, pioneer village and abandoned canal locks. They have group camps, equestrian camps, tent or trailer campsites. A few of the unique amenities are an amphitheater, dump station, and a playground. The nightly rate begins at $16 and ranges on up to $23.

This is good-sized campground that is clean with well-maintained grounds. There is a catch and release lake, a big pool and a variety of activities. They will deliver pizza and firewood to your campsite. More than 60 species of birds call this are home and makes for a pleasant atmosphere. Cabins, tent sites, and trailer sites are all available for reservation with a max length of 75 feet long.

Shadow Lake Campground is located an hour from Wheeling. It sits among the rolling hills in wooded terrain and has a family friendly atmosphere. Each site has a fire pit and picnic table. A convenience store and clubhouse is onsite and available for guest use. Some of the nearby activities that campers enjoy are biking, boating (non-motorized), and fishing at Monroe Lake. The nightly rate for primitive tent site is $25. Sites with full hookups and electric are also available.

Buckeye Lake has quick and easy access off interstate 70 and is one of Ohio’s finer KOA’s. The campground is well maintained in a setting with lots of trees and open spaces. Sites are roomy, level and shady. They offer cabins, RV sites and primitive tent sites. Some of the many amenities include a dog park, basketball, large game room, gem mine, sand volleyball just to name a few. West Branch State Park Campground is a beautiful park on the shore of Michael J. Kirwan Lake. The campground and facilities are well maintained and you will find a variety of onsite amenities. A boat launch and beach are onsite for convenient lake access. Trails and even disc golf courses are also located within the park. They offer 195 sites available for tents, trailers, and horse sites. Some sites are electric only and some have full hookups. Group camps and a day use shelters are available for reservation as well. The max trailer length is 80 feet. The nightly rate for standard sites begins at $16.

Sandusky Bayshore KOA is an older campground that offers pull thru sites, back-in sites, full-hookup sites, tent sites, and rustic cabins. Wi-fi, a snack bar and ice cream station are available onsite. Some of the unique activities offered are a jumping pillow, gem mine, pedal carts and family movie nights on Saturdays. This is close to Cedar Point and a popular place destination for campers. The sites are close together but paved, level and have a nice patio. Prices range about $70 per night.

Located in northeastern Ohio on the west fork of the Little Beaver Creek, Guilford Lake State Park Campground is a small, quiet and peaceful campground. Campers enjoy fishing, canoeing or swimming at the lake. There is a no-wake zone keeping it quiet and pleasant. They offer 41 campsites for tent or trailer camping with max length of 35 feet long. A day-use shelter that is wheelchair accessible is also available by reservation. Nightly rates begin at $24 for a standard site.

Located 14 miles from downtown Columbus, Jackson Lake Campground offers a peaceful and scenic place to get away from the busy city life. They offer cabins, trailer sites with full hookups and primitive tent sites. Campers enjoy swimming, fishing or just relaxing at the lake. A shelter and indoor hall is available for big events by reservation. The nightly rate for primitive sites starts at $36 per night.

Muskingum River State Park played an important role in Ohio’s history. Back in the day, the system of locks and dams helped open the state to trade and development. The campground offers 19 tent or trailer sites that can accommodate trailers up to 30 feet long. A boat launch is located onsite and available to campers.
