Loud Dam Pond is located on the Au Sable River and is a popular destination for many types of recreation including boating, fishing, wildlife viewing, camping, and more. The forest service offers a large number of dispersed boat-in campsites that are located along the river for visitors to enjoy. These sites are located along the northern shoreline just west of the dam. The sites are primitive and include only a fire pit. There are no restrooms, drinking water, or trash services available. Sites can be reserved online if done at least 4 days in advance and then are available first-come, first-serve if still available. Sites are $10 per night during peak season.

Caseville County Park includes 40 acres right on the shoreline of Saginaw Bay on Lake Huron and offers a large campground with scenic and convenient sites near the water. The campground includes full or partial hookup sites for tent and RV camping. Amenities include picnic tables, fire pits, restrooms with showers, playground, and a dump station. Sites can be reserved by phone or online. Sites range between $36-$51 per night depending on hookups included and time of stay.

Waterloo Recreation Area encompasses over 21,000 wilderness acres and is the largest park in all of the lower peninsula. The area includes 11 lakes and miles of hiking and biking trails for visitors to enjoy. The recreation area offers multiple campgrounds including two modern, one rustic, and an equestrian campground. The Green Lake Campground is situated on the southern shoreline of Green Lake and includes 25 rustic sites for tent, trailers, and RV camping (up to 35 feet long). Sites are equipped with picnic tables and fire pits. Amenities also include drinking water and vault toilets. The rustic sites are $13 per night and are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. There is one yurt in the campground as well that can sleep up to 5 people and includes beds, propane heating, and a small table. There is no electricity. The yurt is $65 per night and can be reserved online.

PJ Hoffmaster State Park is situated along the eastern shoreline of Lake Michigan and offers visitors 3 miles of sandy shoreline to enjoy. The campground includes almost 300 sites for tent, trailer, and RV camping. The sites can accommodate units up to 50 feet in length. Amenities include picnic tables, fire pits, electric hookups, restrooms, showers, drinking water, group sites, picnic shelters, playground, and dump station. There are also some tent-only sites without electric hookups. The sites range between $20-$36 per night and can be reserved online.

Cheboygan State Park is located on the shoreline of Duncan Bay, providing visitors with excellent water views and access to Lake Huron. The campground includes 78 campsites that can accommodate tents and RV equipment up to 40 feet max length at select sites. The sites are equipped with electric hookups, picnic tables, and fire pits. Access to drinking water, restrooms, and a dump station is also available. The sites start at $24 per night and can be reserved online through the state park system. There is also a few camping teepee available for $35 per night.

Rifle River Recreation Area offers 10 lakes, multiple streams, and 4000 acres of beautiful wilderness for visitors to enjoy. The recreation area also includes multiple campgrounds situated in different areas of the park. The Devoe Campground is situated between Devoe Lake and Jewett Lake and offers sites for tent, trailer, and RV camping up to 50 feet in length. The sites include picnic tables and fire rings. Drinking water spigots and vault toilets are located at different spots throughout the campground. The sites are $13 per night and can be reserved online through the state park website.
