The Ausable Chasm is certainly a chasm, with steep cliffs along both sides and whitewater between, it makes for a scenic journey. At roughly one mile, it's not a terribly long rafting trip. River rafting here is only done through the on-site rafting company, who also provides a shuttle option. For those that do not want to wait for the shuttle to take them to the put-in, there is a mile long, scenic river trail called, Inner Sanctum. It's an intermediate level trail that takes one directly to the put-in and is the one mapped in this route.

First coming in from the New York border, this section of the Susquehanna River is scenic through rural areas. There are wooded mountains that ride 400 feet above the water along the route, as well as small farms. There is a dam below the town of Susquehanna to portage around. This is probably the most scenic portion of the river in Pennsylvania.

Probably the most scenic part of the Delaware River, this route goes from Narrowsburg south to Matamoras. The river flows through a canyon of forest mountains where waterfalls cascade from in wet weather. The river is quite popular in this section, as it is also popular with anglers. There are four Class II rapids and more than twenty Class I. Along this section of the river is the oldest suspension bridge in the country completed in 1849, the Roebling Bridge, named after its engineer, John Roebling.

Beginning on the West Branch Delaware River, this paddle goes through steep wooded hillsides and a few small cities from Balls Eddy to Narrowsburg. The river has various islands with channels around them. Mountains are gorgeous along this route, creating cliffs and rock outcrops. Just past the city of Milanville is the start of Skinners Falls, a strong Class II rapid that is the most challenging along this route. The safest route along the falls is along the right shore. Before reaching Narrowsburg after high cliffs and ledges, is the deepest spot on the river, a large pool called Big Eddy.

This is a multi-day floating trip with numerous places along the route opened to primitive camping.
