Bays Mountain Park is the largest city owned park in Tennessee. It offers shady forests, ponds, streams and a variety of plants and animals to see. This is a nature preserve so following rules and regulations is a must. The Chiquipin Trail offers super fun smooth singletrack riding on a relatively flat surface. You will wind through a thick forest with excellent scenery surrounding you. The park is closed after 8pm during the summer and has different designated hours during the spring and winter.

This is one of the most popular mountain bike trails in the area. This hilly terrain in Waverly Park has 300 acres to explore. You will travel through hardwood forest. There are several loops and options to do which makes for a nice trail to come back to over and over again. The trail is often improving and thus changing the course.

Hanging Rock Area is located in Wayne National Forest and is an area strip-mined from the 1960s. The area is well known for its fishing ponds and challenging trails for riding. The trails are open to ATVs and mountain bike use. Hanging Rock Trail is what gives the area its name and is one of the steepest trails. Watch for ruts, moguls, potholes and washouts from the ATV riding. The west and east ends are the steepest.

Pine Creek Trail was designed for Off Road Vehicles but does allow bicycles and hikers. This is a long and challenging out-n-back ride with big climbs, big descents and during wet season can be muddy. Watch for moguls, tire rutes, gullies and loose dirt. You'll see rock ledges and shelters as well as a bridge over Pine Creek. You must purchase a pass if you're doing any recreating besides walking. Trails are closed from December 15th -April 15th.

Steel Creek offers a variety of terrain for riding. You’ll find technical singletrack and old dirt roads. Trails are signed, blazed and well maintained. This ride combines several trails making for a great workout. Begin on Lake Ridge where you’ll do some climbing and wandering through the woods. You’ll cross the lake and intersect with Rock Cut Trail using your technical skills as you navigate and climb through rock gardens. The final section descends down Fox Ridge Trail.

Mammoth Cave National Park offers many above ground natural wonders that you will enjoy on this journey. The adventure starts on the Maple Springs Connector multi-use trail. The trails are good for beginning bikers. You will travel through scenic outcroppings and by streams. The trail can be shortened by about 4 miles by cutting out the South Loop and connector trail that leads to it.
