The trails at Gloucester are not marked for difficulty; they are barely even marked at all. You should county on the trek being sandy, with some roots and logs. There are numerous small rolling hills interspersed with flatter sections. The overall ride is intermediate, but vary from recreational to advanced. The trails are not rocky, but can be muddy or a bid sandy in isolated spots. Overall, the trails are fast, fun and interestingly designed.

Bringhurst Woods Park is a great getaway from the bustle of the city and is located in the midst of a busy residential area. Interstate 95 borders the park to the north and can be heard from the park but the dense forest provides a nice oasis. This trail passes through scenic, open fields before entering the woods where it follows a small stream and loops back.

Brandywine Creek State Park is located in the Piedmont in Delaware, along with 3 more of the 15 state parks in the state. This park preserves an especially picturesque section of a Piedmont valley noted for its scenery, history, and culture. The wooded portions of the park have been relatively undisturbed for almost the past two hundred years. The great trees are the glory of the park, but the artistic stone walls crisscrossing the meadows and forests were built more than a century ago by Italians and are a beautiful sight. This route takes good advantage of the mountain biking trail on the east side of the river. You will ride through the gorgeous forest, along the rocky creek, and weave back and forth on the trails.

This is a great ride near the community of Summit Bridge that follows a portion of the historic C&D Canal. The C&D Canal is a ship canal that connects the Delaware River with Chesapeake Bay and in Delaware is considered the divide between northern and southern parts of the state. On this ride you will make a loop through a beautiful forested area and have great views across the canal.

The Tri-Valley Trail is an easy to follow loop that begins and ends on Hopkins Road in White Clay Creek State Park, near the park’s nature center. The portion of the trail on the east side of the creek follows the path of the Pomeroy and Newark Railroad, which operated from 1873-1929. Most of the trail has a natural surface, but some sections have crushed stone. The scenery is gorgeous forest with great views of the tumbling creek.

This is a great, short ride for the whole family. The trails are wide and have only very gentle grades. The trail surface is hard and paved in most areas. You will ride along the shores of Newark Reservoir and then through a gorgeous forested area along the creek. The path crosses the creek several times and is almost always in sight of the water. Shade is a luxury for most of the path except for the portions around the reservoir and through the field at the end.

When riding the slopes of Iron Hill, you follow the ancient footsteps of indigenous peoples who came here to mine jasper for their stone tools and weapons. Today, it is a strikingly prominent topographic feature, visible from afar. It is the highest point south of the Piedmont on the Delmarva Peninsula, reaching 320 feet above sea level. On this ride you will make a loop through the woods to a picnic area near the summit, and then ride around the perimeter of the park on beautiful wooded slopes.
