Webster Lake is in the town of Webster, located near the Connecticut border and has a surface area of 1,442 acres. The lake’s shore is extensively developed with both summer homes and permanent homes packed tightly around the water’s edge. The lake has a very unique shape with numerous peninsulas jutting into the middle of the lake, several islands and two swampy coves. There are three basins on Webster Lake, but public access is only available to the north basin at Memorial Beach and at the south basin at a state beach on Lakeside Avenue. Although the lake is most commonly known as Webster Lake, the original name and the name that many residents of the area believe is the correct name, is Lake Chargoggagoggmanchauggagoggchaubunagungamaugg. This 45-letter name is cited as the longest place name in the United States and comes from Nipmuc, an Algonquian language that means, “Fishing Place at the Boundaries, Neutral Meeting Grounds.”

This is a 412-acre war water reservoir located just south of the center of the town of Holland. Mashapaug Road divides the reservoir into a north and south basin. The southern tip lies within Connecticut. Access to the northern basin is near the dam and access to the southern basin is just below the intersection of Vinton Road with Mashapaug Road. The shorelines are forested and quite heavily developed with summer homes and year-round homes. There are a couple of small islands and many inlets to explore. Forest and hills rise up in the distance providing a great view.

Moodus Reservoir is a shallow, marshy pond with deep coves, and offers a scenic and pleasant paddling experience. There is a variety of vegetation including water shield, flowering shrubs, yellow-flowered bladderwort, mountain laurel and fanwort. The trees that are typical on the shore include red and white oak, sassafras, birches, maple and pine. Wildlife that you may see include wood duck, green heron, painted turtles and great blue heron.

Consisting of both Acabonack and East Harbors, this area stretches north and south alongside Gardiners Bay. There are several miles of shoreline offering long stretches of paddling. Since this area is common for marshland, vegetation abounds and can also cause restricted accessibility throughout some areas. There is a large annual fee for parking in the space next to the boat ramp, but in the past, parking has been free on the shoulder of the small road leading to harbor's access point.

Known also as Long Beach Bay, Hallock Bay is roughly 680 acres with low water depth. It's an estuary off Gardiners Bay, separated by a thin stretch of land called, Long Beach. It is a marshy area, hence the low depth of the harbor. There is a sense of seclusion due to it's branched location from the rest of the state. The Congamond Lakes are located in Southwick and consist of three main basins, north, middle, and south ponds. Together, the three ponds cover an area of 465 acres that lie directly on the border of Massachusetts and Connecticut. The east shore of the middle and south ponds is within the boundaries of Connecticut. The middle pond is the largest and is the site of the two public boat ramps. To access the north and the south ponds there are tunnels under the roads that are passable by boat. The shoreline is well-developed and boat traffic can be heavy at times. There may be a small boat launch fee required.
