This loop trail access several scenic overlooks around Deep Creek Canyon, a small side gorge in Riverside State Park. The trail climbs through an open ponderosa pine forest studded with basalt outcrops carved into interesting shapes. At one point, the trail follows a level bench in between two bands of cliffs on the side of the coulee, then it crosses a miniature basalt desert with sparse vegetation where it can become brutally hot on summer days. Lastly, a spur trail travels up the creek for a short ways to a series of overhanging rock formations. Return to the trailhead along the Centennial Trail paralleling the Spokane River. A Discover Pass is required to park at the trailhead.
