To get to Siah Lake, users must start in the Selway Bitterroot Wilderness at a junction of trails. The route starts at the mouth of Maud Creek and immediately switchbacks on a difficult trail. It travels in the Lochsa Uplands through large spruce, fir, and brush. It then reaches an appealing lake with ample wildlife viewing opportunities and good fishing. The adventure offers a challenge for those planning on multiple day hikes in the area. A wilderness permit can be obtained from a Forest Service facility or a registration box.
