This is an out and back route that follows the cinder trail of the Stony Vally Railroad Grade. The ride gradually climbs to where the grade crosses the Appalachian Trail and there are various ruins of the railroad era. From the turnaround, the route is then a gradual and very enjoyable downhill. The trail leads through gorgeous countryside with thick forests and following or crossing streams.
