Stillwater River is one of the cleanest and most scenic rivers in western Ohio. It is designated as one of Ohio's scenic rivers. Unlike its name Stillwater the river flows at a fast rate. Beginning at Fenner Road this section of the river widens and flows to Englewood Reserve. There are several dams along this stretch of river. Most of them can be run by experienced paddlers with sufficient water. The dams can also be easily portaged on both sides of the bank. The dam in West Milton is a mandatory portage. Takeout is at Englewood Reserve where there is excellent fishing and birdwatching.
