This section of the Great Miami River Recreation Trail is the original section that opened in 1978. It stretches from Montgomery County from south to north. The path follows closely along the bank of the river. A few highlights are Island Park where the trail rides across a bridge over the Stillwater River and the Taylorville Metropark.
