This 3 mile climb (6 mile roundtrip) on Jarbidge Mountain does not ascend to the peak, but is worth the time, anyway. The Jarbidge Wilderness named in honor of this mountain finds the root of its name in Native American folklore wherein the Jarbidge, a large, hairy, and mysterious monster was chased into the mountain by braves and trapped in a mountain cave by boulders the braves moved to block the entrance. While you’re unlikely to encounter a monster, now, you will be amazed by the natural beauty you find along this mountain trail.
