This short ride travels through the cities of Saugatuck and Douglas as it loops around Kalamazoo Harbor and passes over the Kalamazoo River. This loop ride is accomplished by riding the historic Saugatuck Chain Ferry from Park Street over to Wick's Park in Saugatuck. The victorian-style ferry is supposedly the only remaining chain-driven ferry still in operation. There is a fee to ride the ferry but it is minimal. The ride also provides excellent water views of Lake Michigan along Lakeshore Drive. This ride is a good option for beginner and intermediate riders out for a scenic, enjoyable ride.
