The Baldy Trail leads through remote and scenic forest terrain of Arcadia Dunes Nature Preserve to a large sand dune and high ridge that overlooks Lake Michigan. The hike is steep as it climbs up to the dune and hiking through the dune can also be physically challenging but the views are worthwhile for those who want to make the trip up. The hike also follows the ridge just above the shoreline of the lake that provides additional water views. There are multiple alternate trails along this route that can be used to shorten the hike if desired.
