The ground is uneven and it can be muddy. The trail is well marked and easy to follow. This is a long trail, no permits are required in these parts, with the exception of the stretches on Benton and Linn Counties, they require a trail permit for those over 16 years of age. The best seasons for hiking are spring and fall, the flora is at its best and migrating birds are abundant.
