This hike combines multiple trails within Veteran Acres and Stern Woods to complete a fun and scenic trip through terrain of dense woodlands, lush wetlands, and open prairies. There are some small hills scattered throughout the area that provide a little challenge but nothing to difficult. The trail systems within the two parks vary from grass, crushed gravel, dirt, and paved and are mostly used for hiking and biking. The parks are fairly developed in sections providing a nature center, restrooms, playgrounds, ball fields, tennis courts and more but once you head off on the trails the scenery changes and is much more remote and natural.
