The Scout Mountain route heads into the Bannock Range through high elevation forests and shrub-lands. Most of it is easy riding with a few challenges thrown in. A lot of the trail is a 4 wheeler route, along with some single-tracks. Expect a few ruts, rocks, roots, and creek crossings with up to a 14 inches of water. Mormon Canyon is a bit rocky, but the area offers excellent views of Scout Mountain. Once you reach Scout Mountain, there are even more great views of the surrounding Bannock Range and valleys. From there, the route heads back down the mountain, and then loops back to the trailhead. If you plan on camping, a wilderness permit can be obtained from a Forest Service facility or a registration box.
