The ride starts off of Highway 55 and immediately crosses the Payette River, and then heads up on an old logging road that climbs into the North Fork Range. The route traces through ponderosa pine, Douglas fir, numerous streams, and a few moderate grades. There are plenty of shady spots along the trail to take a rest if needed. If you plan on camping, a wilderness permit can be obtained from a Forest Service facility or a registration box.
