The Hudspeth cutoff trail starts near Hawkins reservoir just off of Hawkins road. The trail was created in 1849 by Benoni Hudspeth and J.J Myers because they wanted to get to California faster and really liked this shortcut to the California trail. The hike will go up through the mountain and reach where there are remnants of the main Oregon Trail. Views of the town of Malta, Hawkins reservoir, Cedar mountain and I-15 can be seen during this adventure.
