The ride starts on Skyline Road 077 near Swan Valley. This backcountry secret offers great views of the Snake River Mountains, the Tetons, and the Palisades Mountains. The ride climbs gradually towards Deadhorse Ridge with a few steep and narrow areas of travel. Mosquitoes can be fierce during certain times of the year, so bring plenty of repellent. A wilderness permit can be obtained from a Forest Service facility or a registration box.
