The route is also a National Recreation Trail that starts at Giant White Pine Campground. It is well maintained and easy to follow as it traces through old growth and stream-side vegetation. The trail easily climbs to a ridge-top and offers views of the surrounding Hoodoo Mountains. This wonderful day-hike reaches Palouse Divide Road, then goes back to the campground.
