This outing can either start below at the air strip, or above near Centerville/Slaughterhouse Gulch Road. The route goes through the Boise National Forest along Charcoal Gulch with numerous steep slopes. There also may be icy conditions present, so be very cautious. Idaho City usually sees an average snow depth of 8 to 19 inches between December and March.
