The hike starts at Beaver Meadows just west of Beaver Ridge. This is a ridgeline trail that navigates through large timber and offers access to White Sands drainage. The tread is in fair to poor condition, making it a moderately difficult hike. Some parts of the trail are very scenic as it borders along the Selway-Bitterroot Wilderness. The route ends at White sands Creek, along with junction Colt Killed Trail. If you plan to camp, a wilderness permit can be obtained from a Forest Service facility or a registration box.
