Located on Tampa Bay, this nature preserve offers excellent opportunity for outdoor recreation including miles of hiking trails that explore the area of rich archeological history and diverse marine habitat. The Boy Scout trail was developed with the help from local scout troops and is a natural surface trail that leads through pine flatwoods and maritime hammock terrain. There are a few foot bridges along the trail that pass over wet area but there may still be sections of trail that can be seasonally wet. The trail also connects the Lookout Point trail which provides the option of extending the hike and exploring more of the preserve.
