The scenic and rugged terrain of Cedar Key Scrub State Reserve provides excellent birdwatching and wildlife viewing opportunity in an area of diverse coastal habitats. The area consists of salt marsh, hardwood forest, swamps, pine flatwoods and scrub. A network of recreational trails explore the area and provide hikers of all skill level a variety of trip options. This hike follows a set of trails and dirt roads that can be accessed from a parking area located off of SR 24 in the east half of the reserve. There is also a connecting trail that can be used to access additional trails located in the western portion of the reserve.
