The Upper Uncompahgre is an adventurous canyoneering experience and is for experts only. The approach hike follows a four wheel drive road. The technical section has jumps, slides, lots of swimming and water. There are at least 5 rappels and the biggest drop is 100 ft. Water levels need to be at safe levels to descend. The water is constant and you must be committed once you enter the canyon. Bring rappelling and anchor gear, 50 ft. of webbing, 5 quicklinks, wetsuit, lifejacket and extra warm clothing.
