Iron Chest Mine is an extreme off-road trail with mining history, rock gardens, shelf roads, and spectacular views. The road follows an old mining road access road above St. Elmo Valley and ends at Iron Chest Mine site at 12,000ft. The hardest part is the boulder-filled rock garden right at the beginning that is 1/2mile long. Passing another vehicle is difficult for most of the trail. Rigs need a big lift, lockers, and big tires.
