This section of the Dolores River is a hidden gem and offers and excellent multi-day river trip. It is rarely paddled and flows through a thick forest canyon that is beautiful. There is many places to camp with the deep canyon walls on both sides. Flows are swift with most of the whitewater being a class II. Located toward the last half of the trip lies the most difficult rapid named Snaggletooth Rapid which is a class IV. It can be portaged and scouted on river left. You will find another set of challenging rapids known as Wall and Mile Long Rapids that are class III. The river then opens up and is a peaceful float to the takeout at Slick Rock Canyon.
