Antero Reservoir was the first dam on the South Platte River. Geologists believe the reservoir occupies the site of a former lakebed about 300 years old. Weather can change in a heartbeat here so be prepared. Paddling is best done on a weekday as the crowds flock to the lake over the weekends.
