Located in Telluride area, this trail offers stunning scenery with easy access. It begins right off the highway and climbs to the Alta Ghost Town and passes the Alta ruins and old mill sites. Several dispersed camping sites are along the route. Alta Lakes has good fishing, swimming, and canoeing. The road is rutted with some short sections of steep and rocky climbs. It is suitable for stock 4X4 with decent ground clearance.
