The town of Watsonville was established in 1852 and shortly following, became known as a thriving farming community. The ride begins in the business district of Aptos and follows a tree lined boulevard through neighborhoods before cutting through crop fields, Wastonville's farmland. On the return, the route briefly follows the coastline and passes several opportunities for ocean views. The ride is comprised of a low graded climb right from the start followed by a gradual descent and gently rolling hills. Traffic is light along the country roads and heaviest in Aptos and Rio Del Mar.
