Beginning from San Gregorio State Beach in Half Moon Bay, this ride climbs along Tunitas Creek Road as it winds through farmland and into a lush forest of redwoods. The return is a moderately graded descent along La Honda Road, which leaves behind the evergreen and redwood forest and heads for the coast. Traffic is heaviest along highway 1, the remainder of the roads have light to moderate traffic. Tunitas Creek Road is narrow and windy, be cautious along this section. At mile 14 and again at mile 20, the route passes through a couple small towns where you'll find restrooms and food and water provisions. Weather is variable, be sure to bring layers.
