Shirttail Canyon Road is a scenic dirt road that takes off of Kings Hill Road and travels through rugged mountain terrain east of Auburn State Recreation Area. Shirttail Canyon Road then connects to Yankee Jims Road where visitors will drive over the Colfax-Foresthill Suspension Bridge. A popular swimming hole sits just below the bridge and is a fun spot to stop on a warm day. The route is easy and follows winding dirt road that is recommended for four-wheel drive vehicles. The road is popular with bikers so pay attention to other users on the road.
