Sacramento Northern Bike Trail was once where the Sacramento Northern Interurban Railway transported passengers between Sacramento and Chico; the railway shut down in the mid 1940's. Today, this paved trail crosses a bridge over the American River and explores the thriving communities of Sacramento. During heavy rainfall, sections of the trail near the river may be flooded.
