Moro Rock Trail begins at the parking lot off of Generals Highway. Moro Rock is a large granite dome surrounded by a forest of the largest sequoias within the park, known as the Giant Forest. The trail gently climbs through a forest of tall sequoias with the forest floor covered in ferns. It crosses Crescent Meadow Road at 1 mile and again at 1.4 miles. At 1.4 miles is a trail to Hanging Rock, only approximately 660 feet from the main trail. There are excellent views of the High Sierras and a taste of the views that await at Moro Rock. There are nearly 400 steps with railings that lead to the top of Moro Rock and to spectacular panoramic views of the High Sierras.
