This scenic ride climbs high into the Humbodlt Toiyabe National Forest to a pristine mountain lake that sits below Dunderberg Peak. The ride is rated as easy to moderate in difficulty and is passable for most stock 4x4 SUVs with decent ground clearance. Dunderberg Meadow Road is all easy riding but the side roads and trails that lead to the lake and historic mine are rocky and narrow in a few sections. The ride will need to be done as an out-and-back for non street legal vehicles but street legal vehicles can use Highway 395 to go back towards Conway Summit or on to Bridgeport.
