Every year several cyclists take part in the Bear Valley Metric Century, a steep and windy ride that follows the stretch of Highway 4 from Bear Valley to Ebbetts Pass. The area is often referred to as the California Alps. This ride follows the same stretch of Highway 4. The highway is narrow, twisty and meanders through dense forests and past alpine lakes as well as several scenic views of the surrounding peaks. There are no shoulders to ride in, be cautious of cars.
