Tucked in the Santa Monica Mountains, this looped ride follows windy narrow shoulderless back roads through giant old growth redwood groves and dense woodlands. The ride consists of short windy hill climbs followed by twisty downhills with the last final stretch being a continuous climb and a short downhill back to the car. On this route, you'll pass through Big Basin Redwoods State Park, if you have the time bring a bike lock and explore. Be sure to bring some cash for the park fee. Traffic is moderate. Water, food, and restrooms can be found at the park (mile 14), and the town of Boulder Creek (mile 23).
