This scenic mountain ride starts from Highway 89 climbs north through Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest to some high viewpoints before heading down to the banks of the East Fork Carson River. The ride is moderate in difficulty due to some steep and rocky sections of road but there are no major obstacles to navigate through. Stock SUVs with decent ground clearance and skid plates should be sufficient. Some nice camping spots are located along the route and there is also a hike to some hot springs across the river but motorized vehicles are not allowed to cross. Only attempt if you can cross safely by foot or with a canoe or raft.
