Trail Running

Created by Cherokee Ridge Alpine Trail Association (CRATA), this trail is one of the more challenging among the CRATA trails, but is by far more rewarding. Begin from the well marked trailhead off of Long Branch Drive along the southeastern portion of Lake Martin. Take the trail loop enjoying stunning vistas of Lake Martin, pass the unique rock formations and cliffs of Needles Eye, Jasmine Bluff and Tallapoosa, all while traveling through a thick forested area surrounded with mountain laurel and rhododendron. Look across Lake Martin to spot the popular lake cliff jumping sight of Acapulco Rock. This trail system does not allow children under 12 years of age to hike this route, and children 12-14 years of age must be accompanied by an adult. Dog are allowed on leash only.
