This reservoir is one of the most popular lakes in Southern Wyoming for all types of water recreation. The lake has multiple boat access sites providing paddlers with lots of options regarding what areas of the lake to explore. The Elk Horn Boat Launch is located on the western half of the lake and provides a few primitive campsites with trees. There are many side canyons and coves that provide solitude and protection from the wind and other boat traffic on the lake. Birdwatching in the area is popular as well as hiking, swimming, camping, and fishing.
