Climbing Routes

BlackTail Butte The routes at Blacktail Butte have one of the most picturesque views around with the Tetons just across the valley. The parking area is just passed the entrance to Grand Teton National park when heading North from Jackson. You will see two sets of stairs leading to the wall. The lower trail takes you to the classic John Gill traverse boulder problem and the second takes you to the main wall or around to the top to set up top ropes. The easy approach and views make this a popular place to climb from Spring to Fall with a south facing wall for afternoon sun and nice morning shade to get out of the heat. The climbs range from 5.8 to 5.13 and the area is mostly sport climbing except for a few traditional climbs. 12 quickdraws are needed and all anchors have two bolts.
