Leavenworth is a tourist town located in central Washington and on the eastern flank of the Cascade Range. The area offers a variety of sport, traditional, bouldering, crack and face climbing. The weather here is usually drier compared to other spots in Washington as it sits in a rain-shadow, and it can get rather hot during the summer months. The Beach Area offers some great problems with a variety of moves in this usually shady and fairly secluded area. There are some boulders next to the river, and some in the trees. Be cautious of rattlesnakes, ticks, bats, yellow-jackets, and hunters during hunting season. Bring gear that includes thin nuts, a variety of cams, slings, and ropes (50, 60, and 70 meters). Rock type: Granite/diorite and some alluvium.
