Lower Granite Lake on the Snake River passes through steep hills with step-like sides of basalt in a desert environment. There are a number of boat launches along the road that parallels the lake's east shore. The west shore is largely undeveloped and home to deer, birds, and beavers. Watch for rattlesnakes if going ashore.
