This is one of the many backcountry campsites in The Great Sand Dunes National Preserve. This site is accessed by the 4x4 road that traverses Medano Pass. Access requires 4 wheel drive, and I recommend at least rear locking differential. There are numerous creek crossings from the west side, and well as deep sand through the National Park section. The east side of Medano Pass can wash out with heavy rain. This is a fantastic area to camp in the fall.
