The masterful Smith Rock State Park is a worldly known rock climbing area located off Crooked River Drive near the town of Terrebonne. These marvelous crags are situated in an elevated desert region of Central Oregon. The rock material here is mostly volcanic and red tuff, along with basalt. Christian Brothers extends from the left end of The Dihedrals to Asterix Pass, and it features a lot of good quality routes. The Prophet Wall is on the right side, facing east, and it offers mostly face climbs. Temperatures can get pretty toasty during the summer months, and it can also get below freezing during the winter months. Be sure to bring some cash for a $3 dollar parking permit, or you can purchase an annual pass for $25. There's also a roadside campground just before you get to the main parking area.
